چکیده

Introduction In this era of modern medicine, antimicrobial resistance can be regarded as a major health calamity. The emergence multidrug-resistant (MDR) Pseudomonas aeruginosa strains poses therapeutic challenges and lead to treatment failure in hospitalized patients. This study was conducted determine various types β-lactamases among MDR P. isolates recovered from patients.
MethodsThis at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj, Nepal. clinical samples collected inpatients were processed for detection antibiotic susceptibility profile determined. identified ceftazidime-resistant subjected extended-spectrum-β-lactamase (ESBL), metallo-β-lactamase (MBL), Klebsiella pneumoniae carbapenemase (KPC).
ResultsA total 161 during the period encompassing 73.3% (n=118) isolates. included 50.0% (n=59) lower respiratory tract infections; 39.8% (n=47) intensive care unit showed high towards piperacillin, cephalosporins, fluoroquinolones (>85%). Resistance carbapenems aminoglycosides up 80% 60% respectively. Extended spectrum-β-lactamase, MBL, KPC mediated seen 34.7%, 43.6%, 14.4% isolates, respectively.
ConclusionMultidrug well by production Therefore, early rational use antibiotics play critical role fight against pathogen.

Investigating Class I, II and III Integrons in Multidrug Resistance in Pseudomonas aeruginosa Isolated from Hospital Infections in Ahvaz

Background and Aims: The indiscriminate use of antibiotics can lead to antibiotic resistance in the treatment of infections caused by bacteria such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The presence of integrons in Pseudomonas is clearly associated with multidrug resistances. Therefore, this study aimed at tracking class I, II and III integrons of antibiotic-resistant isolates of Pseudomonas aeruginosa th...

Identification and Characterization of Metallo-β-Lactamases Producing Pseudomonas aeruginosa Clinical Isolates in University Hospital from Zanjan Province, Iran

Background: Infectious by Pseudomonas aeruginosa has spread worldwide and metallo-beta-lactamases (MBL) are being reported with increasing frequency. The aim of this study was to investigate the antibiotic susceptibility and distribution of blaVIM and blaIMP genes in P. aeruginosa isolates from Zanjan Province of Iran. Methods: A total of 70 P. aeruginosa isolates were identified from patients ...

Carbapenem and Fluoroquinolone Resistance in Multidrug Resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa Isolates from Al-Zahra Hospital, Isfahan, Iran

Introduction: The major resistance mechanisms of Pseudomonas aeruginosa to fluoroquinolones and carbapenems are associated with the mutations in the genes gyrA and oprD encoding type II topoisomerases (DNA gyrase) and OprD porin, respectively. Method: In this cross-sectional study, sixty five clinical samples were collected from patients hospitalized in Al-Zahra Hospital of Isfahan, Iran. Susce...

Association Between Metallo-β-lactamases and Integrons with Multi-Drug Resistance in Pseudomonas aeruginosa Isolates

Pseudomonas aeruginosa is among the most important pathogens in the nosocomial infections. A genetic mobile element, the integron, is one of the major agents involved in dissemination of multi-drug resistance among gram negative bacteria. During a descriptive study from October 2009 to August 2010, some 130 P. aeruginosa clinical isolates were collected from different wards of three hospitals...
